The Nostalgia Expresses underwent a further development in 2006 with the introduction of a style of locomotive streamlining and a new livery, in this case imitating the New York Central Railroad's "Twentieth Century Limited".  Owing to differences in the loading gauge, it was not possible to prolong white stripes from the waistline of the locomotive tender through the centre line of the windows, although these were set somewhat lower than in the earlier stock. Otherwise the changes to the coaches were confined largely to the interior fittings and livery, the lighting arrangements remaining unchanged. The free-standing chairs were also retained, but the practice of naming the coaches was discontinued.
